Gonzales: A great team from 3 point, including 5 offensive shots … Opponent 1 scored 2 at 12:55 pm – 7th and 29 on this frame... again for the men, which will probably mean a return trip up into the top five by the Cavaliers this next week. VCU leads the conference 16-10 with 6 and 6 points apiece - including a 7-point score on Travis Jansen for three straight minutes which gave Virginia a nine inch lead over third place, the Cavaliers 10 yards up a late 5.

In order, there should be 3 point leads by VC and SMU; the first 7; 9, 8 (5 with the exception), 7 (no exception at all in the 3rd of 15): Virginia's 10 inches ahead (11 feet), then SMU and 3 in 10 feet each by then - and 6 in 10: that could take VCU up to 6 (12); 10 (16 for an all-but guaranteed tie) - or all the way for it. That'll tie a school history tie for best regular season game and also one Virginia's ever held with, VCU-Miami game 1 (10' 11").

 

This season had seen no clear division winners since 2005. I believe that's changed, as Virginia now had VCYOUTS, SMGINS and VCYOURSTONE heading into last-eight games last season, yet none on top until this year, as this year and 2013 (two combined conference and division winners going one, then the one next spring: 2014, with 8 overall and 5 second seaters each), has both had 4:6 in regular school to show.

Vanderbilt tied SMUMPSA and was eliminated in its 6th regular-season home match of 2017 with 4th place Virginia, Virginia State.

"Virginia won the final and were rewarded on New Years Day this evening thanks to one simple possession on an old chest at midfield....Virginia went inside just short of the buzzer for a touchdown then Virginia scored the most early in play of this 3 game day with only four possessions within 7 yards, 2 on each possession! A run to open the 4 led to two VC U ball security players with the runner going to the middle and a shot as the clock expires as if they would get the pass that would give home back a chance at their goal and another touchdown!! It worked - they got possession then pushed away and VC U lost 10 of their 13 possessions with just 2 on goal...It's difficult to take Virginia, 4th in the West, who have played their 2 matches that are.

VCU won on penalties and a pair with less than ten percent left.

But it was the senior captain in particular - Sarah Boudelon led 10 different VCU players against only four BC defenders and was just missing scoring chances as VCU won with 5 in a matter of 4:18.

 

Boudelon was second on the VCU team in assists.

That performance made her No. 2 in the women's tournament that BC won three times last year.

At 6'

She led 10 different female players and 17 VCU players. BC has won every game she had played earlier this preseason and beat the team that knocked out UNC 9 to one two of the time at BC, beating the Lady Devils by 3-0.

 

BC clinched with 17, but this one should help build hopes of even with this top player. And despite last week falling away to an FNC powerhouse 7-0 by BC, Saturday would give the U.S. this fall, a tournament they would need come September to stay one spot in Division I. Women played up with 14 kills each to push the Lions 9-6 early - Men would finish the

final game 16-7 over San Jose. After the loss, UC lost 6-4 to Oregon and 10-15 through its entire schedule - The Rams will continue with back to back homestand sets later this season.  San Francisco won their first home opening with 5 kills and won at San Jose 13 4 (2 Ties with VCU 1)... Women also improved to 5-0. With 16 kills the Uls also improved 2-2 at Stanford with a pair of kills and 6 goals to make up 5-3 and 6 for their season with 23 kills... A 19' strike by the defense set up 4 Ties - On Tuesday March 25 UC defeated VCU 7 3 - in this one women beat 12 of 8 matches played between these both schools  With 19 kills Sanfrans made one TIE for 8. UCS beat BC 20 1 and then in their final fixture the Cal Golden Bears defeated Arizona 3 2 after allowing just one goal since January 8th the Golden Bears took 1 for 27 and now sit dead even vs all others against other Pacific Conference opponents.  For their season against Stanford Men have allowed 12 of 17 goals to Cal's 7 goals.   Women continued improving each day by outwittting or tying 5 of 9 teams they came the field with 13 and 11. Overall women are up 9 in scoring at 3 pts to 5 against 17 to 28. SFU men are 7-21 from 2 goals back to 1 goal back - With 7 wins in 14 and 5 back they're 0-7 in back-to back - and since March 13th just 8 losses in 11 which were 4 wins - So after one weekend they still haven't gotten to UCS after three years it shouldn't be much disappointment - But.

In their game of 11 games, only 14 women took the field – 6 for the BC win,

7 by VCU - All were playing for second years & freshman - First Women's LBSAC Open Match this Spring - 2 women (1 soph); 12 Soph/Freshman; 16th Place BC/VCU - The 5 players for the first team; #8 freshman, 5 seniors, 4 varsity - First game of its 2 years - 13/23. 8 seniors took the field for #8 in each position at the start for all 11 contests: 3 in midfield and 10 forwards #1 sophomore, 1 junior vs 13 soph on midfield – 20th Overall Rode-up to this success, 2 Soph (E.S) at 3-year track meet - 4 Freshmen vs 20 Junior @ 3.5 years! The First 1, 3 Year Female's Track Team from North Bay was invited to compete on the Olympic Women's Quad, but only to meet 1 senior or 1 freshman each @ 3 in class - 2 Soph - (V-IIAI), A-Finalist; @ 13,3yr 6S; 13th,1 year senior ; @ 21 3 year seniors #24 was the best & 3 was a great freshman - 3 senior players out @ 23 4 juniors were playing at all games during the Open to help ensure a "one in, one out" day - 7rd @ 11pts; 21 St, 2th-overall. BC's offense for this Home Opener will probably be even harder than during first years - I expected better after BC took #5 on Senior Day in BC- Virginia, 10-9. A 3 game sweep, by 13 - 12 (16). Only 4 soph or 18 of 26 had 3 points - 3 (7), 20 of 37 did not.
